2018/19 East Lothian Winter League

No sooner had the dust settled on our Kilspindie County Cup Win, the latest Winter League fixtures were announced. The fixture list computer wasn’t kind to us with 5 consecutive away games to commence the campaign, the first being a tricky away tie to newly rejoined Winterfield. Sadly in very windy conditions we were defeated 3-2 getting us off on with the worst possible start. Thankfully the guys regrouped for the following week and we beat Gifford 4-1 to get us back on track.  Next up were potential title contenders Haddington, which is always a tough place to go and we secured a 3-2 win. A visit to Musselburgh Old the following week resulted in another 4-1 win for Kilspindie and with momentum gathering we headed to North Berwick West Links hopeful of taking something from the match. We managed that, however I think it was fair to say we didn’t never expected to win 5-0 with the guys putting on a great display. That saw us end our run of 5 consecutive away games with an incredible haul of 8 points from a possible 10.

Finally we returned to home soil and couldn’t have asked for a better start with another 5-0 win against County Cup Runners Up Thorntree. A result which saw us get through November having won 14 of the 15 matches played. This left us with one more match to reach the half way stage in the league as second placed The Glen visited us. In a very tight match, with 4 games going down the 18th we managed to make it over the line with a 3-2 win. This victory sees us sitting proud at the top of the league on 12 points, two clear of North Berwick and Winterfield at the half way stage. Hopefully with more home games to come we’ll continue our run of good form.

January also sees the Cup commence with a home tie against Winterfield.

A big thank you to everyone who has represented the Club this season. With pretty much weekly matches and the majority of them away, it’s a big ask and the Club really appreciate your efforts and commitment.
