On Friday 19th July Michael Campbell, the New Zealander who won the US Open in 2005, visited Kilspindie. His visit was supposed to be low-key and he was just there for a fun round of golf.
But it didn’t quite work out like that. Michael went round in 59, the first time he’d ever broken 60, and his scorecard included a hole-in-one at the 5th – an albatross, or as he might call it, a double-eagle. He looks quite happy, doesn’t he?
We’ve made it clear to Michael that he’s welcome at Kilspindie. These days he concentrates mainly on teaching but if he keeps shooting sub-60 rounds, who knows what he might decide to do?
